IN CHARACTER

Character Name: Glynda Goodwitch
Canon: RWBY
Canon Point: Post Volume 3

In-Game Tattoo Placement: A pair of antlers framing her navel
Current Health/Status: Alive and uninjured
Age: Not stated; likely early 40s
Species: Human

Content Warnings: None for Glynda specifically, but RWBY in general involves violence, murder trauma, abuse, mutilation, and other dark subjects related to war and monster fighting

History: Here

Personality: If one were to imagine a stereotypical strict teacher, Glynda is close to what that person would likely come up with. She comes across as stern and not easily impressed from the word go, rarely seen with an expression softer than 'neutral' and tending towards annoyance, anger, and irritation when she does emote. One of her students describes her as 'a bit severe', 'utterly humorless', and 'all business', and none of these descriptors are inaccurate. Extensive experience as both a Huntress and a teacher have given her the ability to keep a cool head even in stressful situations, though there are certainly exceptions to that.

But despite her chilly, professional demeanor, Glynda has her share of flaws. She's shown to repeatedly make snap judgements about a person or situation and while she's frequently right (such as her observation that Jaune's skill doesn't match his entrance exam scores) or has reasonable motivations (such as her belief that Ruby isn't ready to enter Beacon two years ahead of schedule), she's been wrong before (such as her assumption that Ren and Nora wouldn't get along). She has a tendency towards both harsh criticism and scathing sarcasm. When James Ironwood (a general in a foreign army and the headmaster of one of Beacon's sister schools) arrives in Vale with an entire military fleet she accuses him of starting a dick measuring contest using that exact phrase. When the same man later tells an obvious lie about why he's out late at night, Glynda sarcastically breaks down all of the reasons his excuse doesn't make sense before asking why he's really up.

Her grasp on her temper also isn't great. While she's not the sort of person to fly off the handle she's extremely blunt when her patience has been tested, even (maybe especially) in situations were softer words would help to smooth things over. She doesn't hesitate to make her opinion known, frequently regardless of social status or propriety. She's been seen to openly disagree with James in front of a student, roll her eyes at Ozpin (her boss), and snap at Qrow (a colleague) and Winter (one of James's subordinates) for their behavior in front of both of their commanders. She both likes and expects things to be a certain way and has little tolerance for deviations from that norm. Any breaks in her professional behavior, such as those detailed above, come as a result of believing that a situation needs to be corrected more than social norms need to be respected.

But it's important to note that there's a distinct softness to some of her interactions with her students. Though she's still strict and uncompromising and refuses to sugar-coat things, she's markedly more patient and slower to anger with her students - though it's important to note that they can and do push that patience to its limits. Even when rebuking them she's shown to focus on correcting their behavior rather than simply venting her anger, and her reprimands often come with advice attached. She's not above offering compliments in disciplinary situations, either. When lecturing Ruby (who at that point was a civilian enrolled only in a primary combat school, rather than a proper Huntsman Academy) about her fight with Roman Torchwick, a dangerous career criminal, Glynda plainly states that she would send Ruby home with a pat on the back (because Ruby was doing the right thing, at great personal risk to herself).

She shows clear concern for her students' health and well-being as well, and is stated at one point to seemingly know everything about them. When lecturing Ruby for her fight against Roman, Glynda's primary concerns are the the danger the fight posed not only to others, but also to Ruby herself. After the Fall of Beacon, Glynda pushes for Team CFVY (coffee) to transfer to another academy rather than staying to help protect Beacon and Vale and shows clear relief when they finally agree, despite the team being a tremendous asset during the recovery process. The only time Glynda is shown to actually smile in canon is because of the actions of her students; she was exceptionally calm, attentive, and compassionate (by her standards) when explaining the Maidens and the nature of Ozpin's group to Pyrrha; and she allows Jaune Arc, a student that frequently struggled compared to his peers, to have her personal phone number (presumably for the sake of coordinating extra lessons and instruction, though the exact reason is never given).

This compassion does extend to her colleagues as well, though she's markedly more restrained with them than with her students. For example, she has a tremendous amount of respect for Ozpin, not only for his skill and experience but also for his philosophy as an educator. More notably, though she frequently butts heads with James over a variety of subjects, she acknowledges that he acts out of a desire to do the right thing and even tells him directly that she believes he's a good person.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
Aura
Aura is the 'manifestation of one's soul' in Remnant. Aura is primarily used in a defensive manner, cloaking the user in a shield that protects them from damage and can even reduce the discomfort and harm of being exposed to extreme temperatures. It can also be projected in a more tangible way via the use of a Semblance (detailed below), and will passively speed the healing of any injuries its user may have. Glynda won't be recovering any lost limbs, but it can allow her to survive wounds that would normally be fatal. Any use of Aura will steadily deplete it, though it can be recovered via rest. Once it's gone, Glynda can be injured just like any other human and will no longer enjoy any other Aura benefits.

Warp: The increased healing factor of Glynda's Aura will be halved, and a complete Aura depletion will take twice as long to recover from.

Semblance - Telekinesis
A Semblance is a unique power that people of Remnant can unlock, and Glynda's - as the name implies - allows her to manipulate objects from afar. She's able to use her Semblance offensively, to direct projectiles at her opponents or simply flick the opponents themselves aside; defensively, to block projectiles; and in a utilitarian way, to simply move and reorganize objects. She has an incredible amount of fine control with her Semblance, such as her ability to put a destroyed cafeteria back in order in a matter of moments, and she is both shown and stated to capable of lifting multiple large chunks of rubble at once.

There's an implied restorative element to Glynda's Semblance when she uses it to put something back together. Broken objects that should require something extra to stabilize them, such as pillars and glass windows, are shown to hold together on their own after being repaired. In a similar vein, even objects that seem to be fully repaired will crumble again if Glynda stops the process partway through.

Warp: Because the mechanics and limits of restorative parts of her Semblance are never explained, I'm giving it the following warps.
● Restoring an object will deplete her Aura at triple the rate of other Semblance uses
● A restored objects will fall apart again after 24 hours unless reinforced through mundane means, OR it will hold after being repaired, but it will be reassembled in a way that looks distorted or 'glitchy', which may negatively impact its functionality
● The only objects exempt from the above will be those that are small enough to fit inside a 3-foot cube

Combat
Glynda is never seen engaging in melee combat with another character, instead fighting from afar like a spell caster. However, she's the primary combat instructor at a school already focused on combat, and her students are shown to utilize a wide variety of weapons. Swords, war hammers, daggers, lances, staves, shields, gauntlets, and (of course) firearms are all seen in use, among others. Glynda presumably has enough of a theoretical working knowledge of all of these and more in order to properly guide and instruct her students. However, unless canon states otherwise I'm going to say that her practical experience with any of them is limited and that she'll face a learning curve when using any melee weapons. The exception to this will be firearms and unarmed combat, as both seem to be standard requirements for Huntsmen and Huntresses in Remnant, though she'll still be outclassed by specialists in either area.

The Disciplinarian
It might have a fancy name, but the Disciplinarian is ultimately a fairly simple, collapsible riding crop. It does not appear to also be a gun like many of Remnant's weapons, but it likely has some means of storing Dust (crystallized elemental magic) for use in combat. Glynda will use the Disciplinarian as a means of focusing her Semblance, but it isn't stated or shown to have any power amplifying effects or use as an actual weapon.

Inventory:
● Her clothing (skirt, skirt, tights, boots, jewelry, glasses)
● The Disciplinarian
● A small case of Dust (lightning and ice)
● Her Scroll (a communication device similar to the Fluid)
● A book of fairytales from Remnant
